| The aspects of scientific
computing concerning numerical analysis and informatics are the main focus
of the chair's activities in both research and teaching. On the part of
the applications, the numerical simulation of problems from fluid dynamics,
structural mechanics, and of coupled problems are in the center of interest.
For the numerical solution of the underlying partial differential equations,
modern mathematical approaches like hierarchical multi level methods or
sparse grid techniques are developed, studied, and applied as well as recent
paradigms in informatics like distributed computing on high performance
computers or functional language concepts. Further topics are computer algebra,
computer graphics, and scientific visualization. |
